Our 100 knot carpets are crafted from 100 percent Tibetan highland sheep
wool.
More expensive to produce, this singularly rare wool of the world is warmer and more
durable than others. Therefore, it can be spun into finer yarns (hence, more knots per
inch can be achieved). Silk yarn is also available and can be
woven into the pattern to your exact specifications, whether it be just a
few design elements completed in silk or the entire rug.
These carpets have a polished, velvety finish and feel very soft. They are fluffy
and luxurious. Because of the distinct texture and color properties of Tibetan wool,
a unique color palette is achieved in our 100 knot carpets. All color combinations
presented are available, and colors from other knot showrooms cannot be substituted.
New designs and color combinations will be added every few weeks,
so please check our web site frequently.
Conventionally, the "quality" of hand-woven
carpets is stated in "knots"; that is, the number of knots per
square-inch. 100 knot carpets are recognized as the highest quality that is normally
achieved in the uniquely Tibetan method of carpet weaving.
You will notice the greatest intricacy of design in these,
our finest carpets. The lines are finer; the curves are smoother. Having the
most knots per inch allows for smaller detail and a greater number of elements
harmoniously combined. Visit Our Workshop page to find out how
your carpet is made.
